Under you http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl/CategorySql you will find maybe additional extension. Especially the item 'SqlPlusNukeLineNo' is really very useful. This is a solution to 'eat' the line numbers in the interpreter and then you can edit a statement over _multiple_ lines.
