Which registry key are you putting it in? As we moved from 8.0 to 8.1 we found some differences in which key it was expected in, and were never able to completely pin down the definition. It may not have been an 8.0 vs. 8.1 thing so much as moving from a single Oracle home to a server with multiple homes. If you have two Oracle homes you will have:
HKLM/software/oracle/home0
and
HKLM/software/oracle/home1
If you want to have a common tns admin directory for both homes, you'll need to tell both homes about it -- put the tns_admin string in both home0 and home1.
I vaguely remember stumbling across a reference somewhere that there is yet another setting that controls where Oracle will look for an occurance of the tns_admin string, but don't remember any details. Received on Wed Jul 30 2003 - 12:25:23 CDT
