installation hangs

Hi,

I've downloaded the most recent version of the Oracle server for linux from Oracle's site. When trying to install the oracle client the installation program hangs. Near the top of installation window it says...

Installing Java Runtime Environment
1.1.8.1.0
Link pending...

Lower down there is a progress bar showing that it is %4 done and above the progress bar it says "Copying README"

I don't know the exact version of linux. It's running on a Dell workstation that we just bought last week and has the "dell installed" Red Hat linux. It should be pretty up to date.

Does anyone have any idea why this would be hanging.
