NB I'm not claiming to be especially wise but one thing that people can do at Amazon is create a list of recommendations

which is mine. It is worth remembering that Amazon's business is selling stuff to you. Posting reviews - even factual rebuttals of glaring errors - that reflect adversely on the content of the product is in the interest of neither the author nor the retailer. I wouldn't especially trust reviews on sites that are trying to sell you something. Reviews in trade magazine, for example Oracle Scene in the UK ought to be better. Reviewing stuff is harder than you might think as well.
