How to use OPatch ?

Folks,

OS - XP pro.

I am attempting to patch 9.2.0.1 with the 9.2.0.3 patchset. (patchset 2897078)
I have upgrade the OUI as instructed and downloaded opatch.

The dir structure is:

D:\2897078 - holds the patch files.

D:\2897078\OPatch - holds the opatch files.

I set ORACLE_HOME tp D:\oracle\ora92 and then issue the command "OPatch\opatch apply" from a DOS window in the D:\2897078 directory.

OPatch returns:

Performing pre-patch installation checks.

Not a valid patch area.
Check the command line, current directory location and permissions of the patch
directory.

All the files in the 2897078 dir are read-write. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong....
