Thank you everyone for your prompt responses.
A hat off to both of you.
I figured out later that my db instance did not start b/c of a missing
init{sid}.ora in /opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/dbs/. So I copied my db int
from /opt/oracle/admin/{sid}/pfile/ to /opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/dbs/
I do not have the "Oracle not available" error anymore when I am in the enterprise console (logged on as sys/dba with eomapp console now) b/c my db instance started now. However, the db started with some warnings. I will have to work on that next weekend, finding out why there are some warning and what they are.
