Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> newbie, trying to start app server at boot
Sun E450, Solaris 9.
the ONLY machine for everything. no separate infrastructure machine.
can't get one, not an option.
a database in a separate home (9.2.0) seems to be behaving itself.
the app server (9.0.2) is not.
i need to be able to start the infrastructure, and then the mid-tier stuff, at boot time.
chapter 5 of the app server admin guide is well known to me. "note 200475.1" is well known to me.
following the crummy note verbatim to start the infra, and then stop it, doesn't really work. it leaves two processes around.
oracl 1352 1 0 11:20:26 ? 0:00 /v/oracle1/app/midtier/9.0.2/opmn/bin/opmn -ds oracl 1353 1352 0 11:20:26 ? 0:00 /v/oracle1/app/midtier/9.0.2/opmn/bin/opmn -ds
i tried stopping these with opmnctl, says nothing is running.
some dude at oracle says to throw an opmnctl stopall command into the middle of what note 200475.1 tells you to do.
2. who's right?
3. assuming the infra is well and truly started, i want to start the portal and forms midtier stuff. can you do that without the web thing? because i really need to be able to start and stop everything connected with oracle during boot/halt of the machine. does anybody actually do this?
i'm getting aggravated at the "TAR" process. is it typical for those people to just ignore the question and throw yet another note at it? because that's my experience. i can deliberately answer X, and they'll come back and ask for X.
