type of network

i got one question that i am not really undestand so i hope some body can give some advice

the statement is
some company want to make a database available over internet with using oracle 8i. the database can access a few hundred ppl in the world so what the type of network architecture should be implement and how the data server should be configured ?

it's the client/ application server / server network will be implement.
