stored view with parameters?

I want to write a view [or stored procedure] that will accept parameters and return a recordset to a client application [ADO code]. How do I do this? The tiny amount of documentation my client has is primitive, and I'm struggling to marry my SQL Server knowledge of such things to this dB.

I think the server dB is RDB 7 [developed by Oracle, right?]
