how do I see if a table is using indexes or scan

Hi
I'm new to the group I have a question:
I have a table in which I would like to see if is doing a tablescan or index, can someone please tell me the syntax for this sql its in oracle 8i, I have a script that runs and for some reason it gets stuck at this specific table, so I would like to see is is using indexes or a tablescan
any help would be great
