Oracle otrace bug

Hi there
I can across a bug which it looks like it only affects oracle 7x 8x and 8i in which it says that to the work around is to shutdown the database and go to $ORACLE_HOME/otrace/admin and remove the directory /admin
Does anyone have done this and have any problems, I have production servers in which I have the .dat files there and I'm really scared of removing this and then something goes wrong... any comments would be appreciated
