Have not installed 9.2 in Windows 2000 yet but the Management Server is not
an essential part of the database.
Depending on the installation options it might not even been installed.
The Management Server is part of Oracle's tool Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) where you can set up events to monitor your databases and schedule jobs that must run at intervals. The Management Server is the central process in OEM. Another required component is a database where the OEM Repository is located and all data is stored. The Management server communicates with the Oracle Intelligent Agents (3rd component) running on each host that is monitored. The Agents do the real job (dbsnmp processes), passes the results to the Management server that stores the data in the Repository. When you start OEM on your client PC (4th component), it presents the info from the Repository.
When you are not planning to use OEM I won't worry not seeing the OracleOraHome92ManagementServer service. In fact: you basically need only 1 management server in your complete environment.
