Hi Eric,

Your three statements don't kind of relate logically together.

  1. You changed some parameters in the init.ora file. That's nice.
  2. You now want to re-create the control file ?? Why ?? If you want the changes you made in the init.ora file to take effect, simply restart the database (shutdown/startup). It has zip effect on the control files (unless you changed the control_file parameter, is that what you're suggesting ???)
  3. You now want to know what changes you made in 1). Assuming you can't remember what changes you've made (I also have memory problems, I forgot how old I was once and lived being a 33 year old twice, sad but true) look in the database log file. It lists all non default parameters and by comparing the list at different times, see changes that have been made to the parameter file.

If you truly want to know how to either create another copy of a control file or regenerate a new control file just let me know (issue 'alter database backup controlfile to trace' would be a good start though). Please don't touch your controlfile in any way unless you want to have a really bad day.

Cheers

Richard
