Question about the PHP OCI interface.

I am havng difficulty getting non-ascii data from a UTF8 oracle database, the data seems to come back corrupted.

e.g a character which is made up of the following bytes..

229, 148, 180 ( or E5 94 B4 )

is returned as

191 ( or BF ) ( an upside-down question mark is actually displayed )
