If the machine is a pentium 4 then there is a known issue with the JRE
version that ships with Oracle. From memory the solution is to copy the cd
to disk and REPLACE the JRE with 1.18 (not just install a different one
elsewhere). This is documented on metalink if you have a support contract or
google if you don't.
