By whom? Oracle. In this case No 9i is a fully supported version of the
oracle DBMS platform.
Do I consider it a "beta" release? No. It is feature complete and will be
bug fixed in the normal way.
Do I consider it a suitable platform for my companies mission critical data. Not Yet. Firstly our 3rd party products aren't certified for it (and probably don't run). Secondly it is version 1.0 of a lot of new technology. I'mn not a big fan of buying version 1 of anything.

I'd say it was woth installing,researching and testing. I'd not consider putting live data on it until at least one development cycle has gone.
