All,
Oracle is one of the largest products you can buy. It takes a long time to
go over its complexities, but the basic function of the product is to
provide a stable database, this they have always done. I have *never* lost
data from an Oracle database.
Oracle9i (Sun Solaris) is as stable as a rock. (BTW so is O8.1.7). O9i is an
exciting and powerful product.
Yes exciting I'm a DBA, I live with these products, I get paid to make them
work, if they don't work properly then I, quite rightly get the blame.
Oracle have given me the tools with O9i, It is taking a while to get to
grips with all of the changes, I continue to be (pleasantly) surprised with
what I find in the product.
Oracle have done a superb job with O9i.
