Why not to be at least honest?...

Yes, Oracle installer and Java-based products are slow, clumsy, buggy, unstable, awkward etc.
I'm Oracle DBA and developer, there are several oracle installations at my workplace, including Oracle email sever, ifs, apache/portal. Oracle is no1 in db server's world, no one can even argue. By why, why, why you, people who will not make even small mistake in complex command line, provide erroneous recommendations in real-life questions? Yes, most oracles' applications (except database server itself) are strange ones. DBA Studio is outperformed by TOAD or PLSDeveloper. Email server is slow and buggy. IFS even more slow and much more buggy.

Why to use it? Use it if you common to oracle's solutions. Common to Java and have time to hack it.
But please stop to tell each other "yes, we are Oracle's, we are irreplaceable and crossplatformed".
No need for this. Just do "monkey business", work and smile. If you (if we) do, no one will break into with flame about Oracle installer.
