connecting to oracle database

My question is that i have installed both oracle8i and developer2000 in different locations.
ie. Oracle8i in d:\Oracle
and Dev2000 in d:\Dev2000

Now it is not connecting from developer to the database...what should i do?

What to put in the Oracle.ini file???

Also how to know what the name of my default database is?
