Oracle and ArcSDE

Has anyone had any experience of this that they might care to share with me with regards to application performance, platform, load, concurrent usage and such? And was it in conjunction with Spatial Cartridge or just using raws?

Also, with respect to usage by ArcIMS would be an advantage.

I'm looking into spec'ing the above and would like to get some real-world scenarios/experiences to throw into the mixing pot.
