Help request debugging Oracle server failure [ k2gdel: bad ptrs ]

I am using an Oracle 8.1.6 server with JTA distributed transactons from a Visual Age WebSphere Test Environment EJB container. I am using the Merant JDBC drivers.

On three occasions now the Oracle server has died. On each occasion the Merant drivers have logged errors that look like this just prior to the failure of the Oracle server itself.

Any ideas?
