Please check out http://www.arsdigita.com/books/panda/
This web site represents a very good guide to setting up database-backed web sites. It is the basis of http://photo.net and includes extensive code samples.
Full source code is available FREE from
http://www.arsdigita.com/acs-repository/?tab%5ftitle=home&path%5flist=3
Until recently, the source code was TCL/AOLServer/Oracle. There is a new project to change the code to Java. Get the OLD code if you wish to compare it with the URL above!
