As a side point,



     On the Oracle OTN web site where 9i can be downloaded
the following is stated:



              Note: Oracle9i for Linux is certified on SuSe7.1, Kernel 2.4.4
and


              the operating system library GNU Lib C 2.2 only.




Might it not be a good idea to run SuSE to minimize possible
problems?
