Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> What happened to V$RECENT_BUCKET and V$CURRENT_BUCKET??
Hi all Ora users,
I'm currently studying for my DBA exam (using self study), and am working on the Performance and Tuning exam.
The book I have mentions the use of V$RECENT_BUCKET and V$CURRENT_BUCKET
to be able to predict the effectiveness of an increase or decrease of
DB_BLOCK_BUFFERS.
However, according to the Oracle manuals this feature seems to be obsolete since
8.1.5.
In the Oracle 8.1.5 Tuning Guide there is the following mention though:
"Oracle can collect statistics to predict buffer cache performance based on a
smaller cache size.
Examining these statistics can help you determine how small you can afford to
make your buffer
cache without adversely affecting performance." (and same for a buffer increase).
However I can't seem to find any info on how and where to collect these
statistics in
8.1.5+ ??
Does anyone know??
Regards, Martijn.
PS Please reply to my email address as well, since I don't check the newsgroup too often. Received on Thu Mar 29 2001 - 00:55:42 CST
