Chris, you said you installed Oracle, but did you also build a database? If
so I believe the default SID is ORCL unless you changed it. You should be
able to connect to this database without configuring Net 8 through Easy
Config.
Did you check all the log files to make sure there were not errors reported? Sometimes you can run into a resource (memory or disk space) problem.
