What about a good machine with Linux?
Say a dual P3, 1G RAM, RAID 3 SCSI HD (60 GB I suggest).
I think it's stable and not so expensive.
It's also open and free!
It's like a real Unix, we test some progs under linux and then reompile them under SUN OS SOLARIS, beet of fun!
