I'm new to Oracle also and may not be qualified to answer your question.
Just sharing my exp. in a recent installation in Solaris 8. I've problem
starting oracle at first.
After some searches, I go and change the values in /etc/system. The
recommended value from Installation Guide for semmns is 200 but I have found
another recommendation (sorry, I don't hv the reference here) mentioning
2000 as appropriate. After changing this, it works fine.
Perhaps u can look into that?
(As I hv said, my exp. may not apply.)
