The only thing I can think of is :



execute this :


cd $ORACLE_HOME


This is the oracle_home dir, set in .profile.
should be /usr01/u01/oracle/product/8.1.6



execute this


cd $HOME


this home dir of oracle, set in the /etc/passwd file.



These don't have to be the same, in fact this is the normal setup.
