8i Win 2000 Service not starting problem

Hi everybody,
after installing Oracle 8i (release 3 8.1.7) on a Windows 2000 Server everything worked just perfect. After a few reboots the instance seemed not to start anymore. I looked at the Win services and saw that it says: 'starting' for the 'OracleServiceORCL' .... OK ... after waiting 10 minutes and still seeing the 'starting message I tried to start the instance by using svrmgr .. worked, the DB is running and the 'OracleServiceORCL' still shows 'starting'.
Since that it is the same every time I reboot the server... Whats wrong?? the instance startup with svrmgr seems to be clean, no problems there...

Did I mess up something? Any enlightenment will be highly appreciated
