"host ocopy..." runs in the background, why?

I have scheduled this backup script:

alter tablespace SYSTEM begin backup;
host ocopy73 D:\ORCL\SYS.ORA F:\ORCL\Backup\SYS.BCK alter tablespace SYSTEM end backup;

The problem is that "host ocopy73..." starts copying in the background. "..end backup" is therefore reached instantly and results in a fuzzy backup file.

Why is that?
