runInstaller usually stops (without errors) if you not perform
preinstallation tasks (see installation guide for your platform).
I have installed Oracle 8.1.7 (later 8.1.6) on my Linux 7.0 Mandrake. It's
fine.
If you not have CD-ROM you my transfer installation files on your computer
through network with FTP, NFS or other.
