Hmmm....

lk{sid}

Writable only and then only by the owner and the group. Seems to exist in all(?) UNIXES, LINUX, SUN, HP, yada yada......

Looks like a lock file of a sort although I cannot confirm.

Anyone guru like out there care to indulge in this 'trainspotting' question?
