Only getting warm start but not processes running

Hi all



I Buidl a new Oracle dev  server on Friday. I installed all the nec scripts
to start the db.



Problem is it is starting the listener but then it reports 'Database
"wildcam" warm started.'



if i then do a ps -ef |grep ora



I only get my listener back.



Any ideas why.



oh ye. machine is a Sun Ultra 10, Oracle 8.1.6 EE Solaris 2,7 aka Solaris 7
