Also, since you are using Solaris (and it may be on other unix variants) you can use the time command.
time exp <export parameters>
This will run the command you include after the "time" portion and then output the execution time in Real, User, and Sys time. The real time is the clock-on-the-wall time and the user time is the amount of time cpu spent in user mode for this process.
