From the sound of your situation, it doesn't make sense. I would suggest
that it sounds like the SCN number in your controlfile is at least 2 days
too early. This is making me think that maybe you lost the controlfile
because another similar database's control file got mixed up with it --
perhaps you copied a database in that time frame. Another possibility, if
your on UNIX, might be that you were doing a lot of trying this and that and
your sgadef* file is still hanging around in a state of the last time it was
successfully opened -- if that's the case, delete it. If the controlfile
that you had created from an existing db -- I assume using backup
controlfile to trace -- is still not doing the trick, it would give more
support to a sgadef file confusing things. Also, make sure all your
controlfiles are the same.
If your backups include the controlfiles, you could always go back to the point in time of backup.
Been in the same boat myself. You take good backups, you know the recovery methods, but you end up late night without hair. Hope I've been of some help.
