After I installed ORACLE for the first time on my NT Box. I could open it successfully.
Next I shutdown the default Database and created a New Database with a Different SID and I could open the New Database also. Now, my New Database say TEST database was running. I also tried to open the Default database by specifying at the

SVRMGR> startup pfile=c:\orant\database\initorcl.ora

But Oracle immediately gave me a error stating that, The Existing Database should be shutdown first.

My Question is, can I have two databases open at a particular point of time.
