Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Re: Web Enable existing Client Server Forms
i've had experience of this with Dev 5 and Oracle 804. the forms we
developed were to run in client server and over web. the most infuriating
thing i found was the problems with rendering the forms over the web. they
may look fine client server and work fine but when run over the web,
problems occurred with fonts, frames and tabs. patches and newer versions
of Jinitiator did go some way to solving the problems but not all. i don't
know for sure if Dev 6 has solved all the rendering problems but i'm not too
confident.
my advice is to experiment with the Java font aliasing to arrive at a font that looks acceptable in both environments. i remember the use of frame headings and text item prompts caused problems. these were intermittent and didn't always happen on all forms in the same manner.
also, when migrating client server to web, be aware that use of item level validation and timers can cause network bottlenecks. you may need to revisit these areas in your client server forms.
