Help! Orainst end with access violation - Dr Watson

I need help in resolving an ORAINST issue. I installed Oracle Enterprise Edition 8.0.4. At the end of installation the set up had an access violation in ORAINST. From then on I cannot invoke Oracle Installer. Each time it gets an access violation in ORAINST.EXE and Dr Watson kicks in to log the exception. Other than this everything else is working ie PL SQL and other tools. With this problem I am not able to install any other Oracle products like Designer 2000 or Developer 2000. I was able to install everything on another machine. The machine which is having the problem is an Athlon 600 with 128MB RAM and a 20.5 GB Hard drive. Any help in resolving this is greatly appreciated.
