question about nested transaction

May someone tell me about the handling of nested transaction on Oracle. ? If the inner tx was rolled back, can the outer tx be committed. If so, will the changes made made by outer tx take place permanently. ? On the other hand, if inner tx was committed but outer tx was rolled backed, what is the status of inner tx ?

May someone also tell me the difference between Oracle 7.3, Oracle 8.x and Oracle 8i on NT ?
