Definitely do a two step migration for reasons outlined by the post of Brian Peasland.
I would upgrade the database first, because Oracle 7.2.2.3 for Linux most likely is NOT available. (and probably SCO Openserver is more stable than Linux, looking at the high number of installation problems for Linux in this ng)
Please verify that before you go ahead.
