Hello!

I believe that I am having the same problem. I have 8.0.5 installed under linux. I "upgraded" from redhat 5.2 to 6.1 and now cant get the DB started anymore.

I do not understand what you mean about "oracle owner binaries". Do you mean who owns the files and which permissions they have?

In my case it looks like:

for root
> id
> uid=0(root) gid=0(root)

groups=0(root),1(bin),2(daemon),3(sys),4(adm),6(disk),10(wheel)

for user "oracle"
> id
> uid=20(oracle) gid=60 groups=60

where the /etc/group file defines
dba:x:60:
osoper:x:61:

I would be very grateful for any tips or hints you have.

thanks
