this is found in the Oracle8 Error Messages Guide:

ORA-07279: spcre: semget error, unable to get first semaphore set

Cause: An error occurred when trying to get first semaphore set.

Action: Examine errno. Verify that system is configured to have semaphores. Verify that enough
semaphores are available. Additional information indicates how many semaphores were
requested.

I think you have to reconfigure the UNIX - kernel parameters to get more semaphores. Look at the Oracle8 Instalation guide for UNIX / Solaris to get the right informations.
