Database Monitoring Question for the DBA Gods

I have a serious question for Senior DBA's out there. If there were a simple to
install, easy to use, light weight database monitoring solution -- that also did not
cost an arm and a leg. That would be great, huh? But what if that solution required
an NT application server to do the centralized monitoring from? Would such an NT
based solution be useful? Would it be accepted by UNIX only shops? What would
you be willing to pay for such a monitor? I'd appreciate any and all answers.
