HELP tables

I have a package header and package body. In the package header is the declaration for a cursor and a TYPE table that references another table type. In the package body, after initializing a dbms_output.put_line, how can i see if the insert into, TYPE table_1 IS table of table_2%type was successful;

BOTH are free of compilation errors.
