We use it and are quite happy with it. The portal software performs quite
well, and, even on NT, is quite stable. We also use Sterling's Strategy
(formerly IA DecisionSuite) and Reporter against a variety of different DBMS
(Teradata, MS SQL and Sybase).
From a user's perspective, they like that they can put different types of content (reports, documents, spreadsheets, PDF's) into a single location that is secure, and where they can search and retrieve business intelligence information.
Integration into our environment was quite simple. We installed the software on NT, used MS SQLServer as the repository, and were up and running. Since we were an IA customer before the Sterling acquisition, we also had an existing UNIX environment running Eureka:Strategy. This infrastructure also is used in Eureka, providing authentication via NIS and providing ROLAP functionality via the Strategy product. We are also looking at using LDAP for our authentication, which is supported by the portal.
The reporter also works quite well. Our clients enjoy the ability to link the reports via "hot objects", which gives them the ability to cross subject areas (and even different databases) if they so choose. Our clients also like the ActiveX report viewer as opposed to HTML based reporting.
Good Luck!
