Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> All online redo logs gone --- possible to recover?
Hello:
I have a 7.3.4.0.0 database on OSF Dec v. 4.0E running on noarchive log mode.
One each of my online redo log files (out of 2 --- one member per group) and control files (again out of 2) sits on a disk that crashed recently, thus bringing my database down abrutly.
After restoring (from backup) files on the newly replaced hard disk, I can startup mount the database but not open it (of course) --- log sequence not synchronized on the restored online redo log file. I don't worry about the restored control file because I can mount my database. I can always mirror it after I get my database open.
Is it possible to recover the database --- I can afford to loose all changes recorded on both online rodo log file groups (one member per group), in other words, I don't mind to reset the log sequence if that is possible --- or is it true that the only choice I have is to restore from the latest full offline physical database backup?
What would be my choice if I lost all my online redo log files? Can I like "alter database backup controlfile to trace resetlogs" kind-of recreate my online redo log files and reset the log sequence on all datafiles?
Thank you for your advice.
Have a nice day.
Regards,
Cheong
