Once Oracle starts up it has to fill it's DB buffers with data from
disks once again, b/c they were obviously flushed when you restarted
the server. Also it has to reparse every SQL statement and have it
cached when you try to re-execute it (I think same goes for PL/SQL)
Also see the following article in metalink.oracle.com SGA size, sgabeg attach address and Sun architectures for increasing SGA beyond 1.7 GIG up to 2.something. be careful with your sort_area_size if you modify anything as suggested in the article.
