Those who live in the news group comp.databases.oracle.server tend to answer no.
The changes of survival of the company Sybase are less than of Oracle and the number of innovations in Sybase are in my opinion less then of Oracle.

There is a Butler-Bloor Report (from 1997) which compares various databases. It good, but it is quite expensive to buy. It's in my office. If you are interested I could mail you the title.
