Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Re: NT Database Instance Recreation
You're right about backups! There's no greater teacher than experience
though!
I have reinstalled oracle s/w, taking care to preserve all existing datafiles, config files etc etc, and am having trouble actually getting the thing to run.
I followed Sybrand Bakker's advice of using oradim80 to create the new services, I subsequently added a new alias to the tnsnames file (2 entries in fact (diff aliases) for the database, in order to test the BEQ and TCP/IP connection methods) and am still unable to connect.
I started the instance and checked under control panel services, appears fine.
Tried to startup the database using svrmgr30 but get an oracle ora-01034 when issue the 'startup nomount' instruction.
I am ata loss as to what to do next! so any help, greatly appreciated......
cheers
