Standby database with 8.0.5

I have found a good description of Managing a Standby Database in the 8i Backup and Recovery Guide, but not in the 8.0.5 guide. Can you point me to some good papers on standby databases in 8.0.5?

In the following scenario, would using a standby database be the right choice, or are there other good options? The database is on an NT 4.0 box at the customers site( no DBA on site ), 3 gig database with few users. In case of hardware failure the customer wants very quick recovery. They want to point thier clientmachines to a new server and continue work with only small datalosses. With the oracle servers running pretty much unattended, how can I make sure the standby database is actually there the day it is needed?

Thanks
